This is why I don't read.

I really don't read that much. I am a really fast reader, and can get through a book really quickly. If I'm reading a book, I will usually finish within 3 or 4 days of starting it. It's sort of ridiculous. I get addicted and can't stop. So I never really have a book that I'm reading that's on going, if that makes sense.
So- going with that. I finished a book by Elder Bednar in 3 days. Loved it. It's called- Act in Doctrine. Go get it right now. It's really amazing. Plus, I'm basing some of my farewell talk off of it :)

But I read Hunger Games in one day. I started at about 7:00pm and ended around 5:00am I think.... Ok really I can't remember what time I started or ended, but it was somewhere along those lines. That was a while ago, a little bit before the movie came out. It became one of my favorite books. Probably my favorite. I think the author (I seriously don't even know who it is...) is seriously good, and really hilarious. You might not see it, but she makes Katniss have this super funny sense of humor. As well As Peeta, Haymich, and others. It makes me laugh out loud a LOT!

The second day of our trip I decided to start reading Catching Fire. I couldn't stop. I stayed up till midnight (2 hours later than everyone else) reading it. I finished it the 5th day of our trip after staying up the night before until 2:00. So not super fast, but we were on a trip ;) I laughed so many times and I love how easy it is to read. It's like the author just sat down one day and wrote what was in her brain and it just came out exactly how we see it.

The real reason I really don't read- I get way too into it. I feel like my whole life for a few days is centered around the book and I feel like I'm actually in it, and I WANT to be in it so badly! It's super weird. Even a lot of things that I say reference the book. It's super weird. The feeling is sort of fun, but really awkward I guess...

Anyways, I just love it. I can't wait to get my hands on Mocking Jay! Even though I have plenty of other things to worry about right now...

Happy Birthday Ron!!!/Constellations

So last night was pretty much the best night ever.

You know you've done robin egg lipstick before ;) I think everyone has :D

Beautiful
Oh dear...
Hailee fell up the stairs... twice... in one trip... we pretty much balled our eyes out from laugher because her, Ash, and I were all trying to run up the stairs so we could see Karlys' expression as she looked into her room because...
Gavin asked her to prom last night!

Here is how he did it-
He bought the glow in the dark stars you put on your celling and glow in the dark tape. His idea- to write "they will see us waving from such great heights" on her celling with the tape and stars. So cute right?! No. You don't even get why it's so cute. Karly is in love with constellations, astronomy, and stars. She also loves her music as we all know, so the song lyrics were a perfect idea. I think the song has some meaning to them behind it as well...
I'm not done with the cuteness yet guys!
The theme to prom this year is- SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS.
No. I'm totally not kidding.
Plus- Gavin thought of this all on his own! What a champ!
He knows her way too well, don't cha think?

So he came over while Karly was at her dress rehearsal (which lasted 4 hours... so we had plenty of time). At first we were going really slow. We put the stars on first and then connected the dots with the tape. So we had one star at every point in the letter. It was taking forever. We would measure how far away the stars were with our tape, then cut the tape, the unstick the tape (it was kind of two sided so it took a while to get even a little bit off), then stick it on the celling. Sadly, it was only about halfway through that I figured out it was much easier to just pull the tape apart and put it directly on... this probably makes no sense... you know that tape where it is kind of like a sticker? You have to pulling it off and then there is a wrapper.... ok... this still probably makes no sense.... haha never mind.
So after 2 hours (this is so not an exaggeration) we finally got it done! It took 4 people and still took that long. I'm so glad Gavin didn't do it by himself! He was so happy about it though. You could tell. He was just beaming the whole time. :) they kind of like each other ;)
Then he also put rose petals all over her bed and then one rose. He wrote something on a paper (I'm too lazy to go and get it) about her finishing it... hahaha I can't remember. Oh well! It was really cute and it was fun to see how personal he made it, and how excited he was to make her happy.

This is the celling in the light...

Here it is in the dark. I wish a camera could actually capture what you see. This looks nothing like it...
We waited and waited and waited for her to get home.
While we waited we made this amazing cake for Ron Weasly's birthday! We were planning on making it for Hailee as a birthday cake before I left (even though her birthday is in June) and we thought yesterday would be perfect because it actaully was his birthday and she was sleeping over :)

The beauty

How cute :)

All of us blowing out the candles... we did this 3 times... until the candles had melted completely. And sang Happy Birthday every time. :)

So now we are at the part where Hailee falls up the stairs. When Karl got home we waited for her to go upstairs. She took a while... but when she did we didn't notice at first so we ran up the stairs. We have a gate so our dog won't go upstairs. It's not too high...  for most people ha. Hailee didn't quite make it... hahahahaha we almost peed our pants laughing. Karly didn't even suspect anything. Probably because we were already acting like we were on crack... haha we videoed (is that a word.... I don't think so... oh well!) it as she walked in. But it's not that interesting so I didn't take the time to post it. She walked in and saw the rose petals on her bed and just gasped. We laughed and she tried to shut the door. She wasn't noticing the celling so we turned off the lights. She was still like... what the heck guys? The we yelled, "look up!" She looked up and was speechless. She loved it! We giggled and then ran in and laid on her bed gazing at it. We loved it so much. Hahaha. She was completely surprised and didn't suspect a thing!
We heard her say 30 minutes later, I don't even want to get into the shower because I'm so happy. That is true happiness right there people!

Look at her face:)
You know how we have issues with fire... we left this candle burning when we chased Karly up the stairs. Good thing we didn't burn our house down! My mom sent us all a text saying- "do you want me to blow this out?" we freaked out and laughed pretty hard ;)
In fact.. we have so many issues with fire, I had to make a label for it.

Amanda's Engaged!

One of my bestest and longest friends is ENGAGED!!! I almost feel like I got engaged myself ;) I am beyond happy for her! She is my first really close friend that is getting married... I will be missing the wedding on August 10th in the Salt Lake Temple :( it is very sad; but I couldn't be more happy for her! :D like, it is almost weird how happy it makes me! But I feel like that really is what true happiness is :) Being so happy for someone else that you can hardly stand it, and you feel like you couldn't even be as happy on the day you get engaged as you were when you found out she found her true love ;)
I love you Amanda and I can't wait till you get to start your forever family with your prince charming :)

Thee definition of awesome

Would be, the BYU game yesterday.
Aren't we lovely people?

I dragged Ashley because frankly (weird word that I have never used), I don't get why my family doesn't like to go to the basketball games more. We are huge BYU fans, we are HUGE basketball fans, and we have 4 all sports passes. Weird I know. Let me know when you figure out why this is the case... because I really do not understand. I usually have to beg, plead, cry, and bargain to get them to even one game. You can't go to a basketball game yourself... right?

If you would like to keep reading you will get an update on the game, it's not very exciting... but I would just really love to look back at this epic thing.

Anyways. I took her and then we went with Christina. It was a super fun game. We were doing really good the whole first half. We thought for sure we had it. Then when we started the second half within the first like minute they were caught up. But anyways, at the end we were tied with about 4 seconds left. Tyler Haws then made an A-MAZING basket and we were ahead with 2.4 seconds left. We all screamed and freaked out like we won. Holy cow. It was an awesome moment! SOO exciting! The next thing you know everyone in the crowd does a huge sigh and we are covering our mouths... with 2.4 seconds left St. Mary threw a half court shot... and MADE IT!
Made it.
Guys, they made it....
We all stood in complete shock and awe. They reviewed it and it was real. It wasn't a dream. It sucked. A lot. Huuuuuuuuh. Disappointing. 69-70. But hey, at least we had fun.

Here is what we looked at in the moment. We took these in Christina dorm because we didn't want to get stuck in the Marriot Center forever. Here is the caption that goes with it- "We won! We won! Thank you Tyler Haws! 2 points with 2 seconds left! 69-67! Screamed forever and a half... NO! NO! NO! It was from half court that did NOT go in! Are you kidding me? That NEVER goes in! Go die. Final disappointing score 69-70. We will go cry now.

And I did learn something... BYU is where I am supposed to go. I had been seriously considering/thinking about transferring to Utah State when I got home from my mission. I know that's crazy. But I kept thinking that BYU was too hard and stuff. I still don't know what I'm going to do when I get home, but really- it doesn't matter right now!
76 days!
I also learned that you should always listen to the advice of people wiser than you (Ashley).

Oh dreams...

Normally I don't remember my dreams. But when I do, they are usually really really weird and pointless. But last night I had the weirdest and most real dream that I have ever had. Of course it took place at work (because that's all I have been doing lately) and involved one of my favorite co-workers and one of my favorite people in the whole world. It was not happy though. I woke up and once I finally realized that it was a dream, the same feelings in my dream haven't gone away. It wasn't like love or anything, just like sadness... I don't really want to tell it...
It literally is like sticking with me and I can't seem to shake it off. The feelings seem real, like it totally could have happened. I don't even know how to explain it all, but it really freaked me out more than any nightmare I've ever had. Ugh. Dreams can really be amazing and awesome. But they can also really suck. :P

The sequel to- If you play with fire you will probably burn something (or someone this time)

We seriously do not know how to jump a car. Here's the story:
Karly is still kind of learning how to drive the stick. My mom has started making her drive it every single day to school.
She drove the whole way to school with the emergency break all the way on... I don't know how someone could do that, but she said that she was too distracted to even notice. Ashley even had to tell her to turn on her lights... that one is understandable though. Our other car has automatic lights, and I guess you don't have to put on the emergency break hardly ever either. I asked her if she noticed the bright red light that said break on it... she said again that she was too distracted.
So they made it to school... both of them said that it smelled SO bad... (the tires were like burning of course).

But Karly left the lights on.
The car died.

We had to come and jump the car for them after Ashley and Katelyn were done with practice (Karl rode the bus home).
I called Brock because... well... he was a boy and thought that he could help. I had jumped a car before, but I couldn't remember how to do it exactly. He said that he hadn't really done it except for once a while ago, but we could figure it out.

We got there... started hooking chords up, but the last one sparked so bad Brock couldn't even clamp it.
So then he called his mom and she said that we were doing it right. We had the Mazda on and were hooking them the right way. So- we did it again and it worked.
Brock's mom said to let it sit for a while. We did before turning on the dead car. But we wanted to sit in the car because it was really cold outside.
30 seconds later I see Lexi, Katelyn, and Ashley just sprinting from the car... I looked and saw that the chords were smoking!!
Here is it smoking... (Yes, we were taking pictures the whole time. Just like the candle incident )

We ran out there but didn't know what to do because they were hot but we needed to get them off! Brock found a sock and got one sort of off... but it burned through right away... I scrambled and found an ace bandage (don't know why that was in the car...) he wrapped it thick and then got the other chords off.
They had melted all the way down. Almost all the plastic was off the chords...

We called our mom. She didn't believe us for a while.
Brock burned his thumb from when it had gone through the sock. It smelled of beef ramen noodles...

Then we tried to push start it.

We pushed it up and down the parking lot at least 5 times. We were so tired! It almost worked twice... then as we were about to go up the hill again a nice man (I think he was a principal or something) asked us if we needed help. We asked him if he could jump the car.
He had a huge truck and all he did was hook the chords up the SAME way Brock did, but he didn't have his truck on. It started right up and was fine....

The reason that the chords melted was because our Mazda had too much power with the car on. Plus it had a bran new battery sooooo that's why the chords melted.
Stuff like this always happens when we hangout with Brock ;)
It worked :)
If you're wondering how my mom felt about this... it was also the same as the candle incident... she laughed. Hard. She thought it was hilarious that we almost blew up both cars and could have potentially killed ourselves (if we want to go that far ;))
We just know how to have fun I guess... haha

Memory #8 & #9

#7 is my first fight with Christina. It was the dumbest thing ever. I found a new friend- M'kenna and I thought that I couldn't have 2 best friends. So, I wrote her a really mean letter. The mornings on the bus would go with me avoiding her and then she would usually punch me when she got on as I was sitting with M'kenna. We made up like a week later when I decided that I could have two best friends. That is the only fight I have ever had with one of my friends. Hahaha I'm glad we got over that. We are still best friends to this day.
#8 One day on a Sunday after church I think.... I taught Ashley, Christina, and Jackie how to drive a stick shift. It was in my dads really old Toyota. It was super fun and easy to drive. I don't even think Christina or Ash had their license. But ya...

Memory #6

Since Halloween was yesterday and I was planning on writing this earlier this memory is about costume contests. I kind of like winning. I think anyone that knows me... or has even met for for 5 seconds knows that about me. I'm super competitive... about everything. I get that from my dad.
Combine my favorite holiday and competitions is a bad idea.
I have won 3 costume contests in my life.
The first one was when I was 15 I think. I was Giselle from Enchanted. I don't even have a picture of me that year. Which my mom and I are still mad we didn't take. Although- I looked pretty awesome (I know you are wondering... I have been all of the red heads... Viona from Shrek, Ariel... Giselle... is that is.... ok not that impressive. I plan on being the girl from Brave when I get back from my mish... crap... here I go again thinking about it.)
The second was when I was a senior in High School. Andrew and I dressed up as old people. He actually shaved his head. I had my grandmas old wig and the drama teacher did our make up. We had so many people fooled. We actually acted like old people. That was the funny thing. When we went up for the contume some people were surprised because they actually thought we were real old people. That was a really really fun one.

Third was actually last year my family dressed up as the incredibles. We won that at our ward party.

Patience... Patience... PATIENCE!!!

OK. I cannot take it anymore! I just want to have my call! Ya.... sure... my papers aren't even in yet, but it's hard being patient for my doctors appointment (Wednesday) my dentist appointment (Wednesday) and meeting with my Stake President (still to be determined). My bishop told me to get my papers in as soon as I can. Just so I can try and beat the huge wave. I got everything filled out the night I met with him. I scheduled the dentist the next day, and I already had the doctors scheduled. The stake president is going to be the death of me. I seriously cannot wait. I have had this impatience disease my whole life. It's a cure. I dunno how I got it. My mom or dad don't have it... when I get married I might actually pass away from it. AHHHHH!! I can't stop thinking about it. Plus I know that even after I get my papers in it will take forever because all of the people putting them in. But the sooner I get them in, the better. I'm trying to stay positive... It's so hard!!! The stake president it out of town next week and I don't think I can wait another week. But he told me to be patient, and I know that I can do it... I just keep praying for Heavenly Father to keep me patient... the sad thing is... it's working. I dunno what I would do if I hadn't prayed for it. I wouldn't be able to handle it.
Ya this is kind of super pathetic (more than you know actually) that this is my troubles right now. People are out there dying and I'm complaining about waiting for the greatest thing that is going to happen to me in my life. Sorry. That's pretty selfish. I'm just so excited. I've been waiting forever to go on a mission, I should be able to control myself and wait just a little bit longer.
Thanks for listening. ;)

Memory #1!

For my family history class I had to make some goals to try and achieve by the end of the semester that has to do with getting our family history started. My New Testament Professor told us that if we would just write done one memory that we have every single Sunday that in a year we would have 40 plus memories that we might not have written down before and that’s a start to your own family history. So- I have decided to do that. Especially because I was not that great at keeping a journal throughout my life and I have some fun memories that I know I’m going to forget sooner or later.

So here it goes- memory number one.

My senior year we had the craziest Sadie’s ever! We love telling the story because everything that could have gone wrong, did. I was in a group with me, Ashley, Kailey, Jackie, Christina, her friend Dana. I have to tell you, this was one the thee most fun dates/dances that I have ever been too. We were planning on painting black shirts with neon paint and all having a sports number on the back and a name of one of the seven dwarfs. We thought we were super clever because it was a costume dance and we wanted it to be cheep and kind of have a theme. So we met at a park to do the shirts. We were already running late because we picked up our dates and it took a little too long. It was raining.  Of course. Luckily there was a cover so we went under there. We got pain everywhere. You can still see it all there today. We were splattering paint on the shirts and throwing paintbrushes. We hadn’t really thought of how we were going to get these shirts to a place they could dry. So we piled in our cars, in the rain with wet shirts. Everyone had to be super careful not to get the permanent paint on the cars (let’s just say Kailey still has remnants of this day all over her car). We got to my house finally and hung them in the garage to dry while we finished our day date (bad idea you’ll learn later). It was getting super late and we were debating on still going to the zoo or not. We decided to since that’s what we had planned. We got lost on the way there. We went off the wrong exit, almost hit a car twice, got off the wrong exit again, took the wrong turn off the right exit finally and then got lost in a neighborhood…
We finally made it to the zoo! It was still raining so no one was even there! That was actually pretty great. We still got to see all the animals and not a single person was in sight. We had the whole place to ourselves. Avery mad this really big gorilla mad and we all almost die (really though, it was pretty terrifying. He like put his fits against his chest and ran up and down his cage and then banged so hard on the glass! It was so freaky. Another gorilla ate it’s own poop. That was entertaining. Let’s just say we spend the bulk of our time with those guys. After we were done at the zoo we headed home and it was already getting dark. But guess what? Kailey’s car broke down. We still blame Andrew to this day because he was the one driving. We had her car with 4 people and then Christina’s suburban with 8 people. Because we needed to get back and we couldn’t fix the car all 12 of us pilled in the suburban! Oh. And we even pushed the car into a parking spot because it wouldn’t start (this was all in SLC ps). So as we illegally drive home we all are laughing and rocking out to music while there are like 3 people in the trunk. Oh man. That was just hilarious and great. I think we did pray before we left to keep us safe though. Oh! Another cool thing. The car ended up breaking down right in front of east high. We sang high school musical songs while the men were looking at the car. In the rain.
We finally made it home. We were planning on roasting hot dogs and stuff in my back yard. We still did even though it was pitch black. My awesome mom made the fire for us so we wouldn’t have to. She is a genius because it had been raining all day. I dunno how she got it started.  We had a really fun time around the fire laughing and eating food.
Because we put our shirts in the cold damp garage they didn’t dry. They were still completely wet! So we put on our funny hats and went to the dance! The dance wasn’t super fun, but we mad the best of it! I can’t remember what exactly happened after that, but we sure had a good time and are still talking about it today! So apparently it was memorable.

Crazy fun weekend!

This last weekend I had a blast with my family!
On Thursday night I came home. Ya know- no class on Friday.

Friday...
I did homework all day and then we went to Olive Garden together and then watched Friends all night.

Saturday...
FOOTBALL GAME!
BYU vs. Weber

We left the game little early. Not only because it was super hot (my nose got fried) but also because we needed to stop at the store to get one more thing to add to my friends wedding gift.
After the store we headed to Syracuse for my friend Mikayla's wedding. We used to be really good friends with their family, but we haven't seen them in forever. So this wedding was super important to us to go to.
It was one of thee cutest weddings I have probably ever seen! She looked beautiful in her dress, and they had fun things like pictures, candy, and videos.
They are super cute together too!

Right after the wedding we rushed to a Billy Joel/Utah Symphony concert. My mom had to drag us there. We begged her not to go, but we ended up just giving in. It was actually pretty cool and I was super entertained by the whole thing.

We got home late but we had such a fun time, even though it was a super packed day.

I didn't go back to my apartment on Saturday because we just got back so late.
Bonus for me because then I got to teach my Primary class with Austin! :)
