Only two more Sunday's till my little friends move on to another class :'(
I have grown very attached to these kids! Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy trying to teach them, have fun, be their friend, and keep them quiet, but it has been worth every minute! I teach the gospel in simple ways and they always have questions that I can answer, and I know that is because I pray every Saturday night that I will be able to teach with the spirit and be able to teach them the things that they need to know. I really feel like a missionary when I teach them though! They have the cutest questions about heaven, Jesus, the scriptures, and even things like clothes, candy, and hair that don't even pertain to the lesson :)
They have defiantly taught me more than I could ever teach them. Their sweet spirits and testimonies shine through as they say prayers, give talks, help each other, and always listen close and talk nicely of Jesus. They love and know their Savior and have helped me realize how simple and sweet this gospel is. That is why we are supposed to become as a little child to enter into the kingdom of God. Matthew 18:1-5
Sometimes parents might think that they aren't doing a good enough job, but trust me, I can see it. You are :)
*I really wanted to share this hilarious story that got me laughing so hard in church that I was crying...
They really like to play hangman. A lot.
This is kind of how it goes- They stand on the table. They either whisper a word to me that they want to do, or they tell me to tell them a word. Then I tell them how many lines to draw. Then all the kids will start guessing words. Every round I have to remind them that they need to guess letters. Once they start guessing letters then sometimes I will have to tell them where that letter is on their lines. Believe it or not they are actually pretty good at guessing the words! Zach was helping me teach last week and they all guessed the words even before him! There are 4 words that get used EVERY SINGLE TIME: resurrection (I might have drilled that word into their heads one lesson. Now they all just want to use it), The Book of Mormon (because they think it's long and they know how to spell it), church (they know how to spell it... most of the time... this last time it didn't start with a C), and cat (that story is coming up).
So the last 2 times we have played it was James turn. He got up there and I asked him if he needed help. He says, "Nope! I've got a really good word!" Both of these times he has put up 3 lines. The first time it took a few tries for them to get the word CAT.
The next time we played, he did the same thing. The other kids got it a little faster.
Yesterday was the funniest thing ever, he gets up there and says, "I have one and it's going to fool everyone!" I mouth or whisper to Zach, "I promise it will be CAT." He laughs and then goes, "You're sure? Like, without a doubt?" I go, "he's done it every time. "I KNOW it will be."
James draws FOUR lines!
My jaw dropped and Zach just started laughing.
There was one kid who guessed like P or something.
James drew a head.
Then all in unison, almost every single kid goes, "CAT!"
James sighs and writes CAT....
Yes. I know what you are thinking... there were still 4 lines. But it still was CAT! So he didn't fool the other kids, but he sure did fool me and Zach!!!
We laughed and laughed for a long time. The other kids didn't get what was so funny... I just told James that was a very good word and I was proud of him for doing it on his own. He was still happy :)
But seriously.
If only you knew....

Memory #6
Since Halloween was yesterday and I was planning on writing this earlier this memory is about costume contests. I kind of like winning. I think anyone that knows me... or has even met for for 5 seconds knows that about me. I'm super competitive... about everything. I get that from my dad.
Combine my favorite holiday and competitions is a bad idea.
I have won 3 costume contests in my life.
The first one was when I was 15 I think. I was Giselle from Enchanted. I don't even have a picture of me that year. Which my mom and I are still mad we didn't take. Although- I looked pretty awesome (I know you are wondering... I have been all of the red heads... Viona from Shrek, Ariel... Giselle... is that is.... ok not that impressive. I plan on being the girl from Brave when I get back from my mish... crap... here I go again thinking about it.)
The second was when I was a senior in High School. Andrew and I dressed up as old people. He actually shaved his head. I had my grandmas old wig and the drama teacher did our make up. We had so many people fooled. We actually acted like old people. That was the funny thing. When we went up for the contume some people were surprised because they actually thought we were real old people. That was a really really fun one.

Third was actually last year my family dressed up as the incredibles. We won that at our ward party.

A little more about Primary! :)
I love being in Primary! I say that a lot, but I really do!
They told all the Primary kids to pray for rain because of the fires. So they
did in their prayers in Primary and I’m sure a lot of them did in their own
prayers. But it rained the week they told all of them to pray! It was so cute
because the next week in Primary all the kids were so excited because their
prayers worked! It had rained and the fires were out! It was amazing to see
their strong faith in their Father in Heaven. It just shows that Heavenly
Father answers and hears ALL of our prayers, especially the kids. :)

FHE
Family Home Evening is great. I always thought it was funny that you have an FHE group in a singles ward. Mainly because, we aren't family. But I realize that you get to know the people in your ward so well, plus, you have fun! I love it! Plus, it's getting me ready and giving me ideas for my future family for our FHE's ;) I can't wait for that!
Oh, and another thing. I was listening to the devotional today and the girl talked about a woman who had a blog and she always shared her testimony after each post no matter what it was on! So, I'm going to try and do that from now on ;)
I do know that FHE can have a profound influence on people and is important because it teaches us things and let's us spend time with our family (or friends in a YSA ward). It is direction from the prophet's to have FHE and you cannot even have church meetings on Monday night because of it, but because it is guidance, advice and a commandment from the prophet, it is from our Heavenly Father so it much be very important!

First blog post. Wow. I can't believe I'm doing this... I'm not a big fan of writing in my journal, but the prophets really encourage it so I feel like this will be a fun way to do it :)
Oh and I would like to thank my amazing cousin Aubrey for her inspiration for this blog. I love reading hers so I thought that this would be a fun thing to do. :D
The scoop on school. It's
really not what I expected. It's weird because you will walk around all day meeting new people in your classes and at devotionals and stuff, but then guess what? Ya, you never see them again. It's kind of depressing. My ward is really what is getting me though this rough time.
This weekend we had a Relief Society retreat for our stake. It was like one night of girls camp, just with a lot older girls. We had Jenny Phillilps came and spoke to us (She is seriously the best ever) and she brought the spirit so strongly to the meeting and made me want to be better. I think that's what really makes a speaker special, is when they really can inspire their audience to want to change for the better. Her music is truly amazing and really has gotten me through some of my down times.
Then after that we had a big HUMONGOUS slumber party! (Believe me, it was a PARTY!) They had karaoke (I pretty much wet my pants laughing so histarically) and we did glitter toes and ate food.
A pal and I in my ward (a red head, obviously we automatically clicked, it's just a rule) were getting literally addicted to these wonderful pickles they were giving us (I know weird that part of the meal was a pickle) So after everyone had had some we asked member of the relief society stake presidency if we could have some more (we talked to the right person because she is the wife of one of the member of our bishopric so we knew her well). She told us of course we could have some! So we went into the kitchen and opened the fridge, right as we did that the lady in the red shirt comes up behind us, "Can I help you with anything?" We said, "well we were just getting some more pickles." So she kind of made us get out and she gave us each 3 pickles.
Now of course that's NOT enough for me and my obsession with pickles and the other food we had that night wasn't the best (I'm not going to lie to you) so we were a little hungry. About 1 hour later we were taking a group picture kind of by the kitchen, the door and serving area were open and guess what I saw... yup those darn delicious things were just sitting right there. It was tempting, so I followed my evil heart and grabbed those things shoved them under my awesome jacket and ran for the door, me and Emily (my cousin and roommate) didn't want to walk all the way to our cabin in the dark (not lazy just thinkers) so I decided to hide them in the bushes until it was time to go back. As we walked back in we saw the red shirt girl and she looked like she was looking for something, we chucked and went on with the party. The party was over, so I grabbed them (my ward thinks I'm super crazy by then but they were glad to have the pickles) and we walked back to camp. We ate the rest of that pickle jar happily and told stories around the camp fire, actually, I even roasted one (I will not take credit for the brilliant idea, it was a girl in my ward, I just followed though with it) it gave off a weird fume so we decided not to do it anymore, well, actually we did, it just fell in the fire, so that was the end of that.
All in all it was a WONDERFUL weekend and I really bonded with my ward even if it was a short time!
Plus, those pickles had so much sodium (about 250% of the daily recommend value). No calories. But so much sodium. It was completely worth it. It's a good thing I didn't go with my temptation to drink the juice.
Hence, the inspiration for the name of this great blog. (not really, my best pal Christina came up with it)
